What information do we collect about you?
When you use our website, we ask for some information in order to complete your order and send you your lovely new Red Torepdo gear. This is standard for any eCommerce website and when you do this, we only use your data to fulfil your order and contact you if there's a problem with your order or your order is returned to us as undelivered. Should you wish to provide us with a phone number, for example, this will help us to help you should we have a question about available sizes or colours. If you would rather not provide this information, that's fine - the choice, as always is yours!
You don't need to create an account to check out, but we do need your basic information.
How do we use the information we collect about you?
If you simply want to browse the site and look at our lovely photography, then the most information we'll gather is your IP address and will also use Google Analytics to see which pages you view, how often you view them and whether you add stuff to your cart, but don't complete your purchase. This is all normal stuff and helps us as an online retailer to understand when we get it right and when we get it wrong.
If you don't want us to track your path through our website using Google Analytics (for example), you can opt-out using the information and instructions in the long-winded Privacy Policy below. We won't hold it against you!
If you do decide to purchase from us, we'll ask for your name, address, delivery address (if different), your telephone number (in case there's a problem with your order) and will then use one of our online payment providers (Shopify, Amazon Pay, Google Pay or PayPal) to process your payment and take your card details. We don't see this information as our payment providers deal with all of that information on our behalf and have all the whistles and bells in place to make sure that your information is safe whilst it whizzes from server to server on the interwebs.
If we need to refund your order, we can tell our payment providers the amount and they'll do that on our behalf.
All of this done on the basis that it's necessary to provide you with your order and is therefore, what is known as a 'legitimate business interest'.
Do we pass your information on to anyone else?
To allow us to fulfil your order (you'll read that a lot in this document), we need to share your data with third parties. They're all described in great detail below, but for this brief summary, our eCommerce (AKA web shop) provider is Shopify, and they're based in the USA, so they handle some of your information on our behalf. We will also share your information with our shipping partners, and will type out a spiffy label to put on your lovely Red Torpedo parcel. This information is handled by our Shipping merchants, which are listed below.
We also use the Facebook pixel, which may pass your information to Facebook if you are logged in to Facebook on the same browser or device you use to browse or purchase from our website.
This helps us to see how successful our Facebook adverts have been and gives us an idea of how to improve them the next time around.
What about emails?
We will send you emails regarding your order(s) on the basis of legitimate business interest. However, we will only email you with special offers and discounts if you give us your implicit consent via our email Newsletter sign-up form. If you have signed up and you no longer wish to hear from us, you can unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe link in the footer of our last email to you, or you can contact us using privacy@redtorpedo.com or call us on 0141 891 8504 and we'll be happy to help.
How long do we keep your information?
We keep your information for six years from the time you last do business with us as we need to do this to keep on the right side of the tax people and to keep our accountants happy. You can however, ask us to erase all the information we have on you and not to process your information any longer. This is your right under GDPR and we're happy to oblige if this is what you want.
Your rights and your data
You have the right to access any data we hold about you. If you let us know you would like to have a copy of this data, we will reply to your request within 72 hours and will provide your data within 30 days.
